Welcome to Colorado!
You may have noticed over the past several semesters an initiative on campus' hosted by Phi Theta Kappa called C4. The hope with the C4 signing events is that students will pledge to finish their degree. Their commitment is instrumental to their personal success as well as the success of the college. Retention and student success is a nation-wide issue. The Colorado Regional Officer team was able to get November 22nd proclaimed as Community College Completion Day by Governor Hickenlooper! On this day, we held an event on the West steps of the State Capitol to mark the celebration of this important day. We had students, administrators, advisors, legislators and college presidents from across the state come together and pledge to finish their degrees or pledge their support to the initiative. Representative Lois Court and the Colorado Community College System President graced us with their presence and offered motivational words of support. Thank you everyone that made it out, the event was a success! We will be posting more pictures soon. If you have pictures you would like to share, please email Rita at: [email protected]

SHINE ON, COLORADO.
The Colorado Region proudly congratulates Emily Thomas of Front Range Community College (FRCC) who was rewarded a donation of 80,000 Rotary/United Airlines Charity Miles for a trip to Nepal. Emily initially completed a project to supply water for school bathrooms last year. Now, Emily hopes to begin building a school library in Nepal.
Emily was chosen as the outstanding student at FRCC last year, and was selected as a Phi Theta Kappa All American, one of only a few in Colorado. She is also a finalist for a Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship that she hopes to use to attend Denver University and study International Relations next fall.
Great work, Emily!
